Enhance your Bodybuilding Workout Plan: You Messed Up! Now What?
It doesn’t matter if you’ve been focusing on fitness for one day, one month, one year, or even one decade. At some point or another, something happens either because it was out of our hands or we made a decision in the moment that we now regret
By Roger Lockridge
Something went wrong, you had a bad day, or you went somewhere that had temptation at every turn…you get my point. Whether it was a good reason, bad reason, or even because of a factor that we had no control over, we ate something we shouldn’t have. We skipped a workout. There was three minutes left of that cardio we all get sick and tired of doing and decided to stop early.
You know what happens next, don’t you? There’s that feeling of regret. “I shouldn’t have ate so much.”
“It was only a few extra minutes. I should’ve pushed on.”
“I know I had more left. Why did I leave early?”
When this happens there are two roads to take – the low road or the high road. The low road is when you continue to beat yourself up, swim in self-pity, and keep spiraling down the rabbit hold and going further and further away from your goals.
The high road is the one we should all opt for. You get up, dust yourself off, re-commit to the Bodybuilding Workout Plan, and get back to work. While this looks easy on a screen to read, it can be a challenge and that is understandable. Hopefully these tips below can help you move forward.
Acknowledge Facts in your Bodybuilding Workout Plan
There are two facts that you should acknowledge right off the bat. First, no one is perfect. No one. We are all human and we all make mistakes. Second, the past is the past. There’s nothing that can be done to change it. You made a mistake and it is now in the past. You’re human and there is literally nothing you can do to change what has already happened. Once you fully comprehend those points, you’ve already started your path forward.
Remind Yourself What You’re Doing in your Bodybuilding Workout Plan
Take a moment to think about why you started this in the first place. Was health or medical issues the reason for you? Do you simply want to look better? Are your goals performance based like for a physique show or sporting event? Something triggered your brain to tell your body to get moving. Remind yourself of that initial feeling of motivation and excitement so you can feel it again. This momentum will carry you forward so you can get back on track with enthusiasm.
Do Something Right… Now
This “something” can be anything. Is your gym still open? Go train. If not, go for a run or do a workout at home. Perhaps this all started because of a cheat meal. Eat something healthy that falls in line with your Bodybuilding Workout Plan. Are you looking at doing something different? Re-calibrate your goals. These are examples but they are not your only options. Find anything that gets you moving in the right direction and do it. That’s what matters at the end of the day – what helps you. The sooner you take the first step on that high road, the sooner you will experience success again.
