A small placebo-controlled pilot trial measured fasting glucose and HbA1c in adults with prediabetes. Here are the published starting and final measurements.

Pilot study: only 17 participants per group, with different starting glucose and HbA1c means. Results in prediabetes do not establish benefits in people with normal blood sugar. Study dose and preparation differ from this product.

Study details and wider evidence

Source: Panigrahi and Mohanty (2023), Table 3. Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot study of 34 adults with prediabetes. The trial used HIMABERB® at 1,500 mg/day; it did not test this finished product. Values are group means ± standard deviation, not individual outcomes. Only published baseline and day-84 values are plotted.
A separate 2026 randomized trial of 337 diabetes-free adults with obesity and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease tested berberine hydrochloride at 1 g/day for six months. It found no significant benefit for fasting glucose, HbA1c, visceral fat or liver fat versus placebo. The populations and protocols differ; the pilot chart is not a summary of all berberine research.
These study results are educational and are not a treatment claim or dosing recommendation for InfiniteLabs Berberine. Follow your bottle directions and discuss use with your healthcare professional, especially with medicines that affect blood sugar.

What happens after you take berberine?

Explore the journey from an oral capsule to the metabolic pathways researchers are studying.

Digestion, absorption and cellular signaling are different parts of the story. The pathway does not predict individual results.

  1. Start with a plant compound.

    • Berberine is a naturally occurring plant alkaloid, supplied here as berberine hydrochloride (HCl). Each capsule contains 600 mg of berberine HCl, paired with BioPerine® black pepper extract.
  2. The digestive tract shapes exposure.

    • Oral berberine has limited absorption, so the amount swallowed is different from the amount measured in blood. The gut is an important part of understanding what happens after an oral dose.
  3. Berberine is changed into metabolites.

    • Enzymes process berberine into other compounds called metabolites. Human research has detected both berberine and its metabolites after oral administration.
  4. Scientists study energy-sensing pathways.

    • Cell and animal studies have investigated berberine’s effects on AMPK, an enzyme involved in cellular energy sensing. A laboratory mechanism alone does not show what a person will experience from a supplement.
About berberine and this pathway

Human pharmacokinetic studies examine berberine and its metabolites after oral dosing. Much of the AMPK mechanism research comes from cells and animals. Neither a pathway animation nor those studies establishes a clinical benefit for this Infinite Labs formula.

The clips are non-AI stock animations used as conceptual illustrations. They do not depict the exact molecules, specific reactions or effects of this supplement.
